I Apologize in Advance

aves

OK, I'm sorry, I had to do it.  I know many of you actually love this look, but I totally hate it.  Not the baby of course.  The baby is super duper cute!  It's the monstrosity sitting atop the baby's head.  It is almost the entire size of the baby's face!  I can think of better ways to prove that my child is a girl, and I'm not that creative, than a giant flower getting ready to eat her face.  Again, I'm sorry for those that love this, I've been silent about it for way too long!  I must speak out against babies with giant flowers attached to their heads!

I've always been against attaching a wedding garter to your kids' head... it turns them into little peanut heads... the flower... well, it's a flower... I like flowers, but a little perspective would be nice (like keeping it smaller than the kid)

(and yes, the baby is way cute)

I agree! That face is too adorable to hide with a HUGE flower :)

I love headbands with flowers...but they can't be bigger than the kids head...honestly. Cute kid.

I probably have no room to speak, as I only have little boys. I agree Cute Kid..but the flower needs to go.

Oooo, I don't know. As a mother of three boys, by the time the little girly number four came along I was constantly trying to attach things to here head. Why? So I could remember she was a girl and stop calling her he/him/son/ and other masculine type terms.

Seriously. I could't remember/believe she was a girl without the visual! Hopefully, however, I wouldn't have gone for such a LARGE visual.

And that baby is adorable.

YES! Excellent post! I've been silent on this topic as well, not wanting to offend and all that, but I've never liked that look either. As a mother of three girls myslef, I've always found pink to be a great way to tell others my baby is a girl.

i have no idea how i found your blog, but i've been checking in for a while now and it cracks me up!
i too think the huge flower is a no-no, and if i ever do have a girl i'm pretty sure if i was tempted to do this, my hubby would put the kibosh on it pronto :)

Thank you for your honesty. I am sure it was hard for you to post this. You are very brave.
I have 2 daughters, and have NEVER done this.
Trendiness has gone too far. With trying to make your child THIS noticable.
{my husband wouldn't go for it either}
Cute baby. LOVE, love, love your BLOG!!!!

Here, here! I really despise the huge-flower-on-the-head look. Some poor babies have a hard enough time holding their head up!

When my daughter was a baby the headbands were just beginning to be in style (she's 18)
I'm now expecting a baby boy (we have many boys) but if he had been a girl, I would have bought one of those in every color. That's just how cute I think they are.

Guilty. I actually make my own (because I'm cheap). I should send you a few head/flower shots to post up here...

Oooh I am so making you one of these if you have a girl. And a really big hot pink baby tutu.

The other day at church my husband saw a baby with one of those on. He said "What happened to their baby?" I asked what he meant. He said "She has one of those hospital bandages on her head, and they stuck a flower on it. Like we wouldn't notice the head wrap!!!!!"
I have a girl, and she always has a bow or something on her head....but not something sprouting off of it!
