Our Trip to the Beach

shell-box

What self respecting craft blog would be complete without the shell box?  I will admit that as a child I LOVED things like this.  I also loved collecting every single shell on the beach though.  (I now feel bad for my parents for the rocks/shells I used to bring home... seriously what are you going to do with all of those things?)  Really though, as an adult where could this possibly go in your house?  What decor would match this work of art?  I'd be afraid of poking myself anytime I picked it up.  Quick someone call a doctor, cause the beach just threw up all over a perfectly fine box.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure about this one - it hits really close to home for me. One of my top top top prized possessions is a shell framed mirror I made in the second grade. I can't decide which of my children it should go to - that's how prized it is. And they'd better fight over it!!!

I really like the touching black & white school photo on the box lid :)

I see a lot of these bringing decor to the top of the toilet tank... I think the owners are secretly hoping they fall in!

nevadanista - Kid crafts are hard - they're almost always ugly... and if they aren't it means your kids teacher has helped out a little too much, so your shell mirror is safe from ridicule... it's when the adults try to do it, that's when it's bad!

WHAT? you don't just love that box to death? i think it is the BEST. you know what? i LOVE looking for shells, but you're right- what do you do with them? i put them in glass jars. i have a collection of collections- glass jars filled with rocks, shells, buttons, spools of thread...i am always on the lookout for my next thing to start collecting. i was thinking about using my shells to cover the top of a little table on my porch...

what do you do when your kid brings home TONS of things like every pebble and shell? Keep the good ones in a "collection box" (a shoe box or.... an old shell box that you don't have top-o-the toilet space for (I love t's comments!! she's so dead on) and .... bum bum bum toss the old, not-so-pretty-or-amazing ones in the bottom of the garbage after bed time.
or use them at the bottom of your flowerpot (pre dirt and seed) for a little better drainage.

Just found your blog - it's totally cracking me up. I love this stuff! I am a major crafting-loser, and can completely get into other people's craft disasters!

This will be so refreshing:)
